Drawing for the Shy Beginner

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

So you think you can’t draw?  Think again!  Just like learning notes for music, we will start at the very beginning. Supplies can seem overwhelming but we will review the different types of drawing materials first.  Every object starts with one or more of three basic shapes, sphere, cube and cylinder.  You will draw these shapes and shade them to create their three-dimensional form.  At the end of each day, you will be amazed at your drawings, giving you the confidence you need to start your new creative journey.

Week 1:  Review of the supplies; pencils, paper, erasers etc.  Pencil exercises and basic shape drawing with shading.  Draw the Sphere with shading.
Week 2:  Draw the Cylinder in perspective then draw a bottle or vase with shading.
Week 3:  Draw a Still Life in a bowl using (objects provided by instructor).
Week 4:  Putting it all together.  Draw a Still Life, adding color pencil (objects and color pencils provided by instructor).

Art instructor, Elaine Farmer is a national award winning, full-time disciplined professional artist and instructor, having taught drawing and painting for over two decades.  She creates what inspires her and has sold her works worldwide.  In September of 2013, she published a book titled Harmonious Color Schemes; a no-nonsense approach using the Color Wheel.  She is passionate about sharing art with others.
