Art Explorations- Artist's Notebook for Homeschool

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

In this class, instructor Sarah will guide you through the process of making one of your most important painting tools: Your Artist’s Notebook.

What is an Artist's Notebook?
An artist's notebook is a tool an artist creates to record of all the experiments they make with their supplies, like a scientist’s lab book. It is also a visual record of the properties of paints, mediums, modifiers and tools that you use in creating art. We'll use it to record the results of the experiments we'll try in class with color, consistency, mediums, additives, tools and technique. The artist's notebook is also where you'll work on your preliminary drawings and painting samples, and it's a place to keep records of exactly what materials you are using on a particular painting so you can repeat the things you like best.

Whether you currently own zero painting supplies or you’ve been building a stash for years, if you don’t have an artist’s notebook your tool set is not complete. This class meets you “where you are at." We can work with the watercolor painting supplies you already have to help you really know them so that your art can progress.

You will provide your own materials for this class. There are some basic requirements, but the investment you make into supplies is up to you. Necessary supplies include: Watercolor paint, brushes, palette, paper, towels, & jars for water. Also a pencil and ruler.  Materials will run you anywhere from $15-$24, depending on how much you want to invest. After you register, Sarah will email you a more detailed list of supplies.
