Community Garden- Stearns-Davis Community Garden
If you are trying to register for a garden plot and you are told there are none left, please register for the waiting list. You will need to follow the process all the way through to the payment page, but the cost will be zero. Every year a few plots open up unexpectedly. Thank you.
The Stearns-Davis Community Garden were established at Joshua's Park, 31 Courthouse Road, to maintain the traditional agricultural use and history of the Amherst Village. The Amherst Land Trust organized the design and installation of infrastructure, including a permanent deer-proof fence and automatic irrigation system. The Gardens are now allocated by the Amherst Parks and Recreation Department and will be managed by the Stearns-Davis Community Gardens Committee (SDCGC) and Amherst Parks and Recreation.
Garden plots will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis with a nominal fee to cover maintenance and utilities. Each gardener is free to select their favorite vegetable varieties and lay out their plot accordingly. Produce may not be sold on-site, but gardeners may elect to share surplus with friends, neighbors, and charities. Please be sure to create an account in our system before calling to register :)
Schedule for 2019:
January 2-January 31
Gardeners that had a plot in 2018 and are in good standing are eligible to register for one 10'x20'plot. Registration must be done in person or on the phone with Amherst Parks and Recreation (not available online.)
Amherst residents only, gardening at Stearns-Davis Community Garden for the first time, may register for a single plot with Amherst Parks and Recreation in person, on the phone or online on this page. At this time, please indicate if you are interested in a second plot. When second plots are available, they will be distributed in the order in which applications were received.
