Outdoor Discovery Summer Camp
This summer, play, explore, and discover at our Outdoor Discovery Camp, here at the Peabody Mill Environmental Center!

This summer ODSC will celebrate all of our favorite themes, past and present ! Join us each week as we'll discover the nature around us! Each day, campers will take part in various activities, sports, crafts, and water play geared around that week's theme. Every week, campers will have the option to attend our weekly field trip (they are listed below). If you cannot attend the field trip, we will still hold fun activities back at camp.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays we will go to Baboosic Lake for swim time from 1-2pm. Transportation is provided to and from camp and pick-up will remain unchanged on these days. Each week will be different and you and your child will be notified in advance which day they are attending the lake.
Campers will need to bring: a labeled water bottle, change of clothes, bathing suit, towel, snacks, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, closed toe shoes for hiking, sandals for water play. (More information can be found in the Parent Manual below).

Full Summer Fee: $1,060R; $1,380NR (extended care not included)
Early Bird Weekly Fee: $140R; $180NR
Daily Fee: $42R; $52NR (Daily registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable after May 1)
Weekly rate increases by $20 after 4/18
Extended Care: 7:30am-5:30pm
Fee: $14R, $16NR per day

- 8:30 AM - Check-In/ Gaga Ball
- 9:00 AM - Group Meet and Daily Introducation
- 9:15 AM - Community Time - We will have a large group game or activity
- 9:45 AM - Snack Time

- 1:00 PM - Water Play or Hiking (Tues/Thu the camp will be split and visit Baboosic Lake)
- 3:00 PM - Theme Block (specific to that week's theme!)
- 3:30 PM - Check-Out/ Gaga Ball
Field Trip Information
Outdoor Discovery Summer Camp will join friends from Baboosic Lake Summer camp for field trip days, all on Wednesdays! (Some dates may be subject to change). Field Trip prices increase by $10 if payment is not in the Friday before the trip.

Camp Sampler (Week 1, June 18-22)
Come and meet your favorite PMEC/Outdoor Discovery Counselors and get a sneak peak of camp. Every day this week will be a different theme day from the Outdoor Discovery weekly themes below. Please note, there is no field trip this week.
Rock On! (Week 2, June 25-29)
Learn about volcanoes, earthquakes and the layers of the earth. We will hunt for rocks of all different shapes, sizes, and colors. and don't worry..we will end camp with a Rock Show at the end of the week!
CSI- Nature Style! (Week 3, July 2-July 6, no camp on July 4)
During the summer, the woods of PMEC come alive! Campers will put on their cloaks and get out their eye glass as we hike the trails at PMEC. We will have to work together to solve some woodland crimes, and save our furry friends from a natural disaster!
Eco-Zone (Week 4, July 9- July 13)
Our eco-adventure will help us gain an appreciation of our natural surroundings. Discover the three R's of Green Living: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! Campers will be amazed at all the fun games and art we can create while reducing, reusing, and recycling!
Trash to Treasure (Week 5, July 16-July 20)
Learn how to use commonly discarded items and environmental materials to create beautiful pieces of art. Re-purpose items such as CD cases, yogurt containers, Popsicle sticks and more to create mosaics, birdhouses, etc.!
Capture the Flag, with a Twist (Week 6, July 23-July 27)
Be one of three groups to build a shelter and a fort in a secret location. With other skills learned this week, hide a map with coordinates to your fort. Play Capture the Flag using a compass and camouflage. Plan rescue missions to save captured team mates!
Castaway (Week 7, July 30-August 3rd)
Spend the week exploring and fishing the streams and ponds in the area. Learn the types of fish found in the ponds and streams and how to best catch them. Counselors will teach you the ins and outs of fishing using a variety of methods!
H2-OH!! (Week 8, August 6- August 10)
A perennial favorite has been modified to provide even more fun in this water based program. Campers will explore different types of wetlands in the Joe English Conservation Land and the wildlife that lives there. Make your own fishing poles and fish in our ponds. WARNING, you will get wet and muddy!! We may even have some water gun and water balloon fights!
