Registration/Cancellation/Refund Policy

Registrations are accepted

  • In person; The Recreation Office is located at 4 Cross Road, Amherst, N.H.
  • By mail; Complete your registration form on line and return it with full payment to Amherst Recreation 4 Cross Rd Amherst, N.H. 03031
  • By Fax; complete registration and submit with credit card information to 603-673-2032
  • On-line; by using a credit card.

Registration Policy

  • All registration is available on a space available basis.
  • Registrations cannot be processed without full payment.
  • Amherst Recreation reserves the right to set minimums and maximums for all programs and trips and to cancel any program with insufficient enrollment, to change the date, time or location for any program because of unforeseen circumstances.
  • Late registrations for programs requiring a deadline are subject to a $25.00 late fee per registration. (Nothing spoils a good program faster than everyone waiting until the last minute to register.)

Refunds: There are no refunds once a class/program has begun unless

  • The program is cancelled by the Amherst Recreation Department.
  • Request for a medical reason with written note from a physician.
  • A participant’s spot can be replaced with someone from a waiting list

Cancellation Fees:

All refunds are subject to a $15.00 fee.  We will be happy to offer a credit to your account at no cost.  

Weather Related Cancellations:

  • When schools are cancelled due to inclement weather all Amherst Recreation programs are cancelled.
  • Refer to this website for other cancellation updates

Bus Trips:

  • Due to the nature and commitment of bus contracts a refund will be granted only to registered individuals who cancel three weeks (40 days for overnight trips) prior to the date of the trip.

Bus Trips that Involve Tickets to Shows or Performances:

  • Ticket purchases are non-refundable unless they can be resold. Bus fee refunded if cancellation is made three weeks prior to the date of the trip.


  • Any Amherst resident may request a scholarship for recreation programs where a need exists. Requests must be made in writing on an official application form. All requests are confidential and will be evaluated based on financial and/or hardship.
  • For Youth Recreation rounding up a program fee, helps provide financial assistance for those unable to afford the program fee for youth activities. Recommended $5.00 or “other”.

Photo Policy:

  • By registering for a program, you give Amherst Recreation permission to take and publish photos of you or your child participating. Your picture and your name may be used for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed, you must include this request in writing along with your registration.
